Mr. Stiles-Bio
Mr. Stiles has dedicated 45 years in the industry of precision grinding and polishing.
His career began with working at the Cincinnati Milacron (Heald Division) for 27 years designing and building precision grinding machines. He continued his career with the Cincinnati Products Division (Grinding Wheels & Coolants)where he held the position of Director of Grinding Systems Engineering. The last 14 years he’s worked for Tyrolit Abrasives. During this time Tyrolit acquired Radiac Abrasives and has held numerous roles before retiring.
Mr. Stiles has traveled to many countries around the globe, China, Egypt, India, Germany, Mexico, Canada along with many others.
He has acquired extensive knowledge with grinding and polishing processes in the industries of Aerospace, Automotive, Bearings, Primary Metals and Tooling. He has engineered processes using both Conventional and Superabrasives grindng wheels in order to enhance the efficiencies and product performance.
In the last two years Mr. Stiles has organized a new company, Applied Abrasive Technologies LLC. The company focus is to develop grinding and polishing processes using our own state of the art engineered products.
Mr. Stiles vision is to provide our customers with the complete package, that which includes the process parameters and the engineered products.
In addition to his work experience, training has been one of the highlights of his career. He's promoted, developed and facilitated training programs for the following companies over the years. His first hand knowledge of the applications allowed him to recommend the best product solutions.

He attended Central New England College and has completed course studies related to Statistical Process Control. Also completed course studies at Central Massachusetts Education Association (Supervisor Management).
He participated in the IAM’s (Institute of Advanced Manufacturing) in Cincinnati, Ohio.
During his tenure at Cincinnati Milacron, he developed a course called "The Fundamentals of Building a Grinding Process".
Mr. Stiles is a past President for the Industrial Diamond Association (IDA).
Mission Statement:
The sharing of information about grinding has been one of Mr. Stiles focused efforts throughout his career.
Learning from the ground floor up and understanding the complete package (The Grinding System) has been
a key component influencing his success with process optimization and design.
The value of understanding the machine tools and their unique characteristics enhances the ability to design
a complete process. My approach has always been one to pay close attention to the details.
When troubleshooting a process and wrapping your arms around the details to determine where the
constraints are allows one to be in control of the process. My analogy is simple, it’s like switching on and off
the light, and you’re in control of the action.
It will be our approach to share the fundamentals and the theory behind the requirements needed for an
efficient and optimized process.
With Mr. Stiles' background in machine tools, conventional abrasives, super-abrasives and coolants, we can
work together in finding solutions for your grinding needs.
